For parents
How Fommi works — and why it works this way.
Why pictures, not text
A three-year-old can't read — on-screen text means nothing to them. That's why all navigation in Fommi is built from big, self-explanatory pictures and color: your child finds the right section on their own, without an adult's help. Every word is voiced, and every object comes with 3–4 different photos — so kids learn to recognize the object itself, not memorize a single image.
What the app teaches
- Vocabulary. Explore mode: everyday categories — animals, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom. Tap a photo and the word is spoken aloud.
- Attention and memory. The quiz: a spoken question and four pictures. No scolding for mistakes — Fommi simply shows the right answer.
- Letters. The alphabet goes letter by letter, each with a familiar object. Progress is saved, and finishing the alphabet is a little celebration with balloons and confetti.
- Practicing letters. The letter quiz — for slightly older kids, once the alphabet feels familiar.
- Safety. A special and important part: dangerous objects (a knife, a stove, a power socket) come with Fommi's calm warning — "don't touch this, call a grown-up." No scaring, same playful tone.
What the app does NOT have
- No ads — none at all, including "kid-friendly" ones.
- No analytics or trackers: we don't collect any data about your child or their actions.
- No accounts or sign-up; progress is stored only on your device.
- No external links or purchases inside the kids' area.
- No internet needed: all content, including voice-overs, is built in.
How to get the most out of it
- Short sessions of 10–15 minutes work best.
- Play together at first: repeat words after Fommi and point at the same objects at home — "and where is our kettle?"
- Talk through the "dangerous or safe" topic out loud: the app gives the occasion, but the rule ("call a grown-up") sticks when a parent repeats it.
- The app is portrait-only — comfortable to hold in one hand while playing together.
